The Goya Series (2016) - In 2016 I returned to a residency in Vallauris, France. I had left some materials there eight years earlier and I decided that I would take nothing with me, but I would make a series from whatever materials I found at hand. The paints I had left there were stored in a white cardboard box, that became my first painting surface. Then I added a crushed can I found in the parking lot and a tuna box from the kitchen. The result is a series I like to call “Goya on Garbage.”
